Set Your Sails for Better Fitness in the New Year

The Steps to better fitness are quite like the steps you would take in most any endeavor.

Decide what you want:
Write down your goal. Get a picture of what you want to look like. Put a picture of your favorite beach on your dresser - make it the first thing you see in the morning and the last before you settle in at night. Keep a picture of the perfect, ideal body on your fridge - or on your desk. Constantly reinforce your desire.

Put together a plan:
Break your goal into small, manageable tasks. Like walk 20 miles a week by February 1. ( That's only about 3 miles a day - a Very reasonable goal! )

Do three sets of ten push-ups every other day by March 1.

Same for crunches on your exercise ball ( you get more out of your crunches when you do them on the ball!

Swim for 20 minutes twice a week.

Jog for 20 minutes 3 times a week.

You get the idea.

Focus on taking the steps required. Act upon your plan. Every day! Do something towards the completion of your goal(s). Hard work wins out here! You can't delegate anyone to run your laps or do your strength training!

Get feedback. Assess your results each week. Each month. Are you hitting your targets? If not, maybe you can adjust the plan accordingly. Shoot for the moon - wherever you land is way better than where you were when you started!

Keep after it. Never give up. Perseverance helps you reach your goal. Keep focusing on the daily action steps towards your goal!

All these steps are much easier if you make it fun. Do your workouts with friends. Vary your routines. Play a variety of sports. Whatever you find most fun!

If weight loss is one of your goals - the quickest way to lose weight fast (and keep it off) is with daily exercise.

Do you want to look good on Spring Break? Or at the beach this Summer? Start now! Make a little progress each day. Those little bits add up to a whole lot! And don't forget to keep eating healthy foods. You can have a much leaner body before Spring Break - and a tighter tummy by Summer! The choice is yours! Go for it!

Choose Better Health

The Holidays are such a wonderful time of the year! So good, in fact, that many of us celebrate with food. Lots of good, rich food. Tastes great. And some of our favorite have very little nutritional value. Along with a more sedentary lifestyle of sitting behind that desk and far too little time exercising, the pounds just seem to pile on.

Luckily there are natural and healthy ways to lose weight fast! Getting in shape fast is a goal one can reasonably expect to reach. Just how fast is entirely up to me! I get to make the choice to eat more sensibly, exercise and lose weight fast. I don't expect to lose this pot belly in a month. But two or three months is certainly a realistic target.

How much exercise is needed to make a difference in your weight depends on the amount and type of activity, and on how much you eat. Aerobic exercise burns body fat. A medium-sized adult would have to walk more than 30 miles to burn up 3,500 calories, the equivalent of one pound of fat. Although that may seem like a lot, you don’t have to walk the 30 miles all at once. Walking a mile a day for 30 days will achieve the same result. I think I'll strive for three to five miles each day! And get in some weight training to start building muscles.

If you consume 100 calories a day more than your body needs, you will gain approximately 10 pounds in a year. You could take that weight off, or keep it off, by doing 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily. The experts concur - the combination of exercise and healthy eating is the surest way to start getting in shape fast.

The choice is yours. Choose to adopt healthier habits. Choose to have more fun playing sports you enjoy! Choose to schedule some time each day for exercise. Be a little selfish - and guard your daily exercise time. You can choose to look better and feel more energized. To enjoy the many benefits of better health - eating healthy foods and getting in shape!

Christmas Fudge

Staying fit through the Holidays can be a challenge! Last night Christmas parties everywhere featured seasonal, and not to mention deliciously rich culinary treasures! Everything from Prime Rib to barbecue and then there were the desserts! I'm feeling my belt tighten just thinking about that delicious chocolate mousse! And the fudge at work all week! Forget the sugarplums - I'm having visions of Christmas cookies and candies dancing through my head!

No small wonder Jolly old Saint Nick is always pictured as pleasingly plump! Today, Moms everywhere will be baking Holiday favorites. Chocolate - a traditional Christmas favorite - is already flying off the store shelves! Russell Stovers and and fine chocolate makers enjoy record sales during this wonderful time of the year!

Chocolate fudge for Christmas is such a delicious treat. Make some and bring it your work-place or share some with family and friends this week. Here is a pretty easy chocolate fudge your loved ones are sure to enjoy:

Melt one-quarter cup of butter. ( Use real butter - unsalted if you wish )

Mix together in a separate dish one cup of white sugar, one cup of brown sugar, one-quarter cup of molasses and one-half cup of cream.

Add this to the butter, and after it has been brought to a boil continue boiling for two and one-half minutes, stirring rapidly.

Then add two squares of Baker's Premium No. 1 Chocolate, scraped fine. Boil this five minutes, stirring it first rapidly, and then more slowly towards the end.

After it has been taken from the fire, add one and one-half teaspoonfuls of vanilla.

Then stir constantly until the mass thickens.

Pour into buttered pan and set in a cool place.

Cut into squares and wrap a bunch in plastic wrap or tin foil and top it off with red and green ribbons!

Merry Christmas! Enjoy the Holidays with your favorite chocolate treats and don't forget to keep eating healthy!

Lose that stomach fat

The best way to lose belly fat is exercise! Lots of it! So get up and get moving. Make healthy exercise a habit. Have fun - get out and play with your friends or classmates. Enjoy the journey to better health. You are more likely to stay healthy and keep exercising if you're having fun.

It is important to exercise at an intensity vigorous enough to cause your heart rate and breathing to increase. How hard you should exercise depends to a certain degree on your age, and is determined by measuring your heart rate in beats per minute.

The heart rate you should maintain is called your target heart rate, and there are several ways you can arrive at this figure. The simplest is to subtract your age from 220 and then calculate 60 to 80 percent of that figure. Beginners should maintain the 60 percent level, more advanced can work up to the 80 percent level.

Regular exercise offers you many benefits. Frequent aerobic exercise will improve your cardiorespiratory endurance, the ability of your heart, lungs, blood vessels and associated tissues to use oxygen to produce energy. The energy your body needs for exercise.

Find some good running shoes and hit the trail - or the mall and start walking. Do a five or ten minute warm-up. Some nice, easy stretching. Then gradually increase your pace for a couple minutes. Now it's time to kick it in.

Walk fast. Then slow it down a bit for a few minutes. Then - pick up the pace again. If you feel good enough to jog - go for it! Run as fast as you can for a minute then back off to a moderate pace. If you pick up the pace earlier in your run - or walk - you'll burn more calories! Repeat this pattern for fifteen or twenty minutes. Then make your last five or ten minutes of jogging at a steady, slower pace.

Patience is essential. Don't try to do too much too soon and don't quit before you have a chance to experience the rewards of improved fitness. You can't regain in a few days or weeks what you have lost in years of sedentary living, but you can get it back if your persevere. And the prize is worth the price.

Build a healthier, leaner body while getting rid of excess body fat. The best way to lose belly fat is with lots of exercise! And don't forget to keep eating healthy foods!

Start getting in shape fast and you'll lose your stomach fat in no time at all!

Eat Smart for leaner, sexier Abs

If you want have leaner Abs - it's going to take some work - and sacrifices. For me the sacrifice comes in the form of donuts - and sugar filled sweets.

Somewhere in an old music store lies a CD ( more likely a vinyl album ) containing the memorable smash hit by Tommy James and the Shondelles - Sugar Sugar.

Yesterday I met the most interesting lady. She was watching no less than six preschool aged children - all playing on a public playground. I didn't count them all. She did have the help of her nine year old son. It took her ten minutes just to get them all loaded into her over-sized van and into their respective car seats. An amazing women might better describe this picture of patience. I would have a full head of gray hair and completely frazzled nerves had I even thought of attempting to care for so many precious little ones.

One little girl - I guessed to be the youngest - had the prettiest big eyes nestled into her lovely little face. My new acquaintance explained that she was in the process of adopting this quiet little Angel. She went on to say that she used to weigh more than other children in her age group - due to a lousy diet, laden with Sugar! This little gift from God had some behavioral issues as well - attributable in some part to a diet full of sugary drinks and foods. Changes to this little girls diet have resulted in the loss of five pounds and improved behavior.

This got me to wondering - What am I feeding my little boys? Earlier that morning, after dropping my oldest son off at school, I introduced his little brother to one of my favorite places - the local donut shop. Yes, "This is Living" I proudly explained to him as we both dived into our newly found treasure trove of sugary delights. Before we could navigate the two miles to our nearest discount store we had managed to polish off almost half of our dozen donuts. Washed down with some sweetened chocolate milk, of course.

One hour later after running through the massive bargain store I decided to get him out of there before we both went crazy. On our way home I found myself fighting with a perfectly normal and lovable little two year old over the merits of staying in his car seat. He was under the influence a classic sugar-rush. He didn't want to sit anywhere!

How can I impress upon my children the importance of eating healthy? Especially after a trip to our favorite donut shop?

The quickest way to lose weight - and keep it off - is twofold.

One - Stop eating junk that serves no nutritional purpose. Sugar and donuts fall into that category. Why are all the good things so bad for us?

Two - Start getting at least 30 minutes of good cardio exercise each day. Or at least five days a week.

Three - start exercising your stomach three days a week. Let the muscles rest between workouts Crunches, rowing machine, pull-ups, and squats. Get an exercise ball and do sit-ups on the ball. Then get out and run or walk for 30 minutes.

There are natural, healthy ways to lose that belly fat. The best way to lose that belly is with exercise and healthy eating!
Perhaps I'll ponder on this as I drink my morning coffee - with two scoops of sugar.

Celebrate Success - Start getting healthy!

Do you want more energy? Would you like to feel healthier? Maybe lose a few pounds? Tone up your body? Are you just plain tired of being sick and tired?

Whatever your health goals are - you can make it happen if you make a plan and start taking action! Any action. Today!

Look at where you are right now and decide what you want to change. Start with a plan to create better habits. Write your goal - and your plan for achieving that goal on paper. Some people have found a fitness journal helpful. Whatever form you decide on - write down your goals and the plan to achieve them.

Then start taking action - immediately! Change requires you give up some things. Change means we have to adjust, adapt, and accept new healthy eating habits. New exercise habits and a new level of activity. Focus on the good you are doing!

Aim high - shoot for the moon. If you miss, at least you'll be better off than you were before you started. Who cares about being perfect? Write down the change you want to make, profess it to a willing partner in crime, and see what happens.

Make small, manageable changes in your daily diet and exercise habits. Realistic changes that you can do now. Don’t commit to an unrealistic exercise plan; just do what you truly know you can do, like walking 30 minutes or so each day at lunch, or even three days a week. Include more vegetables and fruits in your daily diet. Cut back on refined sugars, soda and junk food. Small changes practiced daily will lead to big results!

If you're like so many of us and find yourself missing a day or cheating a little, don't give up. Don't beat yourself up over your mistakes. Simply learn from them and move on. Keep going! Simply decide to do better tomorrow or the next day. At the end of a week, or a month, measure your progress. Rethink your plan. What's working? And what isn't? Change your action plan accordingly. Then set out on taking even more action! You will gradually see improvement if you stick to your plan!

We can achieve great success in our quest for better health if we just keep after it - continue chipping away at our goals. Keep eating healthy foods and avoiding the ones we know are just adding pounds. Keep exercising! If weight loss is one of your goals - experts agree the quickest way to lose weight is with daily exercise and a disciplined focus on eating healthy!

What Happened?

What happened? How did these pants get so tight. It wasn't even Christmas yet and i had managed to add a few pounds!

There are no do-overs when it comes to our health. The shape we are in is a direct result of the choices we make - in diet and physical activity. Months of eating donuts and sugar-laden candy and cookies have enabled me to add some very unwelcome pounds. The twice a week workouts were just not enough to ward off the extra pounds.

On the positive side - I still have the ability to get out and walk for an hour without dropping over. I can choose to ignore or postpone the urges to pick up a bag of cookies or my favorite candy. I can eliminate the white bread and use whole wheat instead for those much-loved sandwiches. There are ample quantities of heart-healthy fruits and vegetables available at the store I can easily walk to.

Make healthy food choices, exercise and lose weight fast!

I have the options. I know what works - and each time i glance in the mirror can plainly see what doesn't.

I hope you're waistline is smaller than mine - and stays that way! It's never too late to start adopting healthy habits. Eating healthy and exercise are still the quickest way to lose weight fast! And keep it off!

As Thanksgiving fast approaches and we look forward to all those special foods to enjoy over the coming weeks. Maybe now is the perfect time to start or crank up our exercise programs. Now is a great time to take stock of where we are and where we’d like to be before this year draws to a close.

Maintaining or even losing weight in these last few weeks of the year can be a big challenge. With so much good food to enjoy over the Holidays, the average adult can easily gain over a pound just in December alone!

I know I’m already looking forward to a big slice of Mom’s homemade pumpkin pie! And who can resist a little gravy on their meat and potatoes at Thanksgiving?

Then comes the annual Christmas parties. Festive affairs with families, friends, and lots of delicious delicacies! These weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas often include a bounty of tasty treats in workplace break rooms around the world. I’m really looking forward to Dad’s annual batch of peanut brittle. The Christmas season just wouldn’t be the same without it.

Visions of sugarplums and all these tasty treats are already causing me to loosen my belt a notch. I swear I can gain weight just thinking about all the Christmas goodies! Maybe now would be a good time to start burning a few more calories each day! Maybe I should try to get in a little more exercise this week – and every chance I get.

Maybe I should strive to enjoy plenty of fresh fruit, and vegetables over the coming weeks. There is still time to lose a few pounds before this year goes into the record books. Maybe I can avoid gaining weight again this year! Maybe – if I keep up my efforts toward getting in shape - I can even lose a few pounds! Maybe!

Exercise more and Lose Weight Fast!

Carrying around too much body fat is a major nuisance. Yet excess body fat is common in modern-day life. So few occupations require vigorous physical activity, and much of our leisure time is spent in sedentary pursuits - like watching TV.

Recent estimates indicate that 34 million adults are considered obese (20 percent above desirable weight). Also, there has been an increase in body fat levels in children and youth over the past 20 years. After infancy and early childhood, the earlier the onset of obesity, the greater the likelihood of remaining obese.

Excess body fat has been linked to such health problems as coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, diabetes, arthritis and certain forms of cancer. Some evidence now exists showing that obesity has a negative effect on both health and longevity.

The solution is simple - Exercise more and lose weight fast! Make it fun - jump rope with the kids. Ride a bike. Take a brisk walk. Just do something that gets your heart pumping faster. You'll burn more calories all day!

People who exercise and build muscles increase lean body mass while decreasing their overall level of fat. Depending on the amount of fat loss, this can result in a loss of inches without a loss of weight, since muscle weighs more than fat. However, with the proper combination of diet and exercise, both body fat and overall weight can be reduced.

What is your goal? Do you want to lose ten pounds? Or just firm up those abs? Write down your goal(s) and then get moving! Remember, nothing happens until we get moving!

Get more sleep, exercise, eat right, and get annual checkups. Accept and adapt to your limitations. Growing older tends to slow many of us down a little. I may not hit 120 mph serves while playing tennis anymore. And, I still love playing. Aging doesn’t mean we have to give up activities we love.

Studies also show that optimists live longer, more satisfying lives. So if you’re not exactly the optimistic type, you might benefit by learning to be one. Vow to make your first thought of the day a positive one. Many people get a certain peace of mind through early morning prayer. Join the countless millions who enjoy a little early morning exercise. Try to read something positive like some inspirational quotes or affirmations to start your day off right.

Try new things. It will help keep your mind sharp. Focus on today. Don’t look back—stay in the creative mind. Regret is such a destructive and useless emotion. Try to avoid it. If your life isn’t how you imagined it would be, forgive yourself, embrace the lessons you’ve learned from your mistakes and then move forward! Edison didn’t waste a moment worrying about his many failed attempts – he used what he had learned and kept moving forward!

You can enjoy a much better quality of life if you get a little exercise most days of the week. Combine healthy eating habits with your daily exercise and enjoy a much healthier and happier lifestyle! Whether you are out to improve your self esteem or striving to get rid of that pot belly you’ve been lugging around - start getting in shape fast and watch your quality of life improve immensely!

Exercise and Lose Weight Fast

The quickest way to lose weight - and keep it off - includes two basic habits. Exercise and eating healthy. Siu.mple, easy to implement habits we can all benefit from.

During this second week of the U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York we have to great pleasure of watching some incredible athletes doing what they love. These tennis pros have been working on their game for years. And working on their bodies as well. They need incredible strength and endurance to play through hours of running after shot after shot. These guys and girls are incredible.

They practice for hours every day and invest more time and energy in the gym or getting cardio workouts to supplement the hours of sweat on the practice courts.

They all started somewhere. They have all been working on their game and their bodies for years.

If they can get into such incredible shape - so can you and I. We can - with enough time and energy - work our bodies into lean, mean fitness machines. Why not use one or more of your favorite athletes as a role model - or someone to sort of emulate when you include time for working out in your busy schedule.

Write some time for yourself into your planner. And keep that appointment. Five days a week. Give yourself a day off once or twice a week.

You can exercise and lose weight fast if you keep eating healthy too.

Finding time for you

How do you find balance? With so many commitments and tasks cluttering up our schedules - how do you find time for what really matters most? Stuff like our own health? Really important goals like more time enjoying Family and loved ones.

It seems like if you are healthy it is much easier to have a better attitude towards just about everything. To find time - or make sure you have time for the important things.

Sometimes we get so wrapped up achieving success and / or giving to others. So much time and energy devoted to careers and helping others and we can too easily forget to take care of ourselves first.

It's OK to be a little selfish and make some time for ourselves each day isn't it?

Make It a Habit! Guard your time for health and fitness. You'll do better at everything else if you are in good health!

The key to a lifetime of fitness is consistency. Here are some tips to help make regular exercise a habit:

Choose something fun. Sports and an exercise plan you enjoy - that fits your lifestyle. Set realistic goals, and tailor your program to your own fitness level. Give your body a chance to adjust to your new routine. Stay positive even though you may not see immediate results. Don't give up if you miss a day; just get back on track the next day. Find a partner for a little motivation and socialization (support from family and friends has been positively related to regular physical activity).

Build some rest days into your exercise schedule. Listen to your body. If you experience unusual symptoms (e.g., have difficulty breathing or experience faintness or prolonged weakness during or after exercise) speak to your Doctor. Don't wait.

Enjoy a fun variety of physical activities and give your body a thorough workout and help prevent boredom. You might want to choose one indoor exercise and one outdoor activity to allow for changes in your schedule or for bad weather.

The important thing to remember is move, move, and keep moving! Incorporate as much physical activity as you can into your daily life, through exercise and routine activities.

Better Health Through Nutrition

Healthy eating is a critical part of any total health plan, and can improve the effectiveness of physical activity. When you combine a well-balanced diet with moderate exercise, you feel better and keep off unwanted pounds.

Health Professionals agree - The Quickest Way to Lose Weight Fast is with daily exercise and eating healthy! Make exercise and eating healthy integral parts of your balance and well-being. You'll soon be hooked. A healthy lifestyle leads to much greater happiness and energy!

Summer Fun - at every age

We hung out at the local park. One of our favorite girlfriends called us the Park Boys. All we cared about that wonderful summer was having fun.

On our skateboards. On the tennis courts or basketball court. Or, at the pool. And then at night - it was usually more of the same after a big barbecue and lots of beer. We had fun. And we met lots of really cool girls. Very cool!

The friendships you develop while you're playing sports seem to last longer. And having fun is always a snap - just pick your pleasure for the moment and go for it. As we age we sometimes lose track of those friends we enjoyed so much. And, we usually - more often than not - count them as friends long after we last saw each other!

Playing sports and exercising seems to bring out the best in people. Fitness and Health experts seem to agree. The benefits of exercise and physical activity are plentiful -

Enhanced Sense of Well-Being

Increased mental acuity

More energy

Improved quality of sleep ( this is huge - as any parent can confirm! )

Improved ability to cope with stress

Reduced tension - you'll feel more at ease!

Improved Appearance - You look better and Feel Better!

Weight loss

Toned muscles

Improved posture

Enhanced Social Life

Improved self-esteem

More energy to enjoy having fun in social activities

More opportunities to make new friends (i.e., through exercise)

More opportunities to share activities with friends or family members

So get out and enjoy this Summer. Call a friend - new or old - and enjoy some outdoor time playing your favorite sport. Or, even just going for a nice long walk. Join a group of lunch-time walkers! Is there a softball or baseball league you can get signed up for?

The golf course is a great place to make new friends and get some great stress relief! Walk off your worries - and some weight - the next time you get 18 holes in!

Experts agree the quickest way to lose weight is with plenty of exercise and healthy eating habits. Start getting in shape fast and watch your life get way more fun! Get out and enjoy this wonderful time of year!

Natural and Healthy ways to lose weight

Just getting started is important to any goal. Taking action. Moving in the direction of your goal. Losing weight and reshaping your body are both realistic goals. Just get started. Take an early morning walk - by yourself or with someone encouraging.

Get outside at lunch - with one of your favorite people - and walk off some calories. Play some tennis after work. Or chase the kids around the block. Ride your bikes or get on that TreadClimber. Little steps - leading in the direction of your goal - will get you there sooner than just wishing.

There are so many natural and healthy ways to lose weight fast. Probably the quickest way to lose weight is combining a healthy, reduced calorie diet with plenty of exercise. Exercise helps you burn calories for hours after you stop! Eating healthy gives your body the fuel to build muscles and get rid of belly fat.

If you are just getting started here a few hopefully helpful ideas:

* Always wear appropriate safety gear. If YOU bike, always wear a bike helmet. Wear the appropriate shoes for each sport. Wear sunscreen and keep plenty of water around.
* Warm-up before you exercise. That could be a moderate activity such as walking at your normal pace, while emphasizing your arm movements.
* Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. You can break this into shorter periods of 10 or 15 minutes 2 or 3 times during the day.
* Follow the 10 percent rule. Never increase your walking or running distance or amount of weight lifted more than 10 percent a week.
* Vary your routine - try not to do the exact same routine two days in a row. Walk, swim, play tennis or lift weights. This works different muscles and keeps exercise more interesting!
* When working out with exercise equipment, read instructions carefully and, if needed, ask someone qualified to help you. Check treadmills or other exercise equipment to be sure they are in good working order. If You are new to weight training, make sure you get proper information before you begin.
* Have fun - enjoy your healthy pursuits with those you love - or friends who will encourage you. Enjoy eating healthy with family and friends. Play your favorite sports with others.

The quickest way to lose weight is Start getting in shape fast!

To get your muscles warm and loose for strength training, walk for five to ten minutes outside if weather permits, or inside around the house or on a treadmill if you have one. Walking will help direct needed blood flow to your muscles and prepare your body for exercise. Warming up is important for preventing injury as well as gaining maximal benefit from the exercise, because loose, warm muscles will respond better to the challenge of lifting weights.

If you have another piece of aerobic exercise equipment available to you, such as a bike, rowing machine, or stair stepper, this will serve as an adequate warm up as well.

Start simple. Here is an easy, and effective exercise to help you get started!

Squats are a great exercise for strengthening hips, thighs, and buttocks. Before long, you'll find that walking, jogging, and climbing stairs are a snap!

1. In front of a sturdy, armless chair, stand with feet slightly more than shoulder-width apart. Extend your arms out so they are parallel to the ground and lean forward a little at the hips.
2. Making sure that your knees NEVER come forward past your toes, lower yourself in a slow, controlled motion, to a count of four, until you reach a near-sitting position.
3. Pause. Then, to a count of two, slowly rise back up to a standing position. Keep your knees over your ankles and your back straight.
4. Repeat 10 times for one set. Rest for one to two minutes. Then complete a second set of 10 repetitions.

Note 1: If this exercise is too difficult, start off by using your hands for assistance. If you are unable to go all the way down, place a couple of pillows on the chair or only squat down four to six inches.

Note 2: Placing your weight more on your heels than on the balls or toes of your feet can help keep your knees from moving forward past your toes. It will also help to use the muscles of your hips more during the rise to a standing position.

Make sure you:

* Don't sit down too quickly.
* Don't lean your weight too far forward or onto your toes when standing up.

Tune and strengthen your body - Start Getting in Shape Fast!

Make some time in your daily schedule to get a variety of exercise - both cardio and strength training will benefit you for years to come! If you've been out of the exercise habit for some time you may want to start slow and slowly progress into longer and more strenuous workouts.

Take 3–5 minutes at the beginning of any physical activity to properly warm up your muscles through increasingly more intense activity. As you near the end of your workout, cool down by decreasing your level of intensity. (For example, before jogging, walk for 3–5 minutes increasing your pace to a brisk walk. After jogging, walk briskly, decreasing your pace to a slow walk over 3–5 minutes. Finish by stretching the muscles you used-in this case primarily the muscles of the legs.)

Strength training requires little time and minimal equipment. Exercise - of any kind - will help you build strength, maintain bone density, improve balance, coordination, and mobility.

To take full advantage of the many benefits of strength training, it's important to progress, or consistently advance the intensity of your workout by challenging your muscles with heavier weights. This continuous challenge allows your muscles to grow strong and stay strong!

Exercise and building muscles will help you start getting in shape fast!

Lose 20 Pounds before Labor Day!

OK - I admit it - I've got a biker's belly. A beer belly. I'm overweight. A kind, gentle person might not see me as grossly overweight - or obese. I do. That spare tire of mine is way too big. If I don't watch it I'll be wearing a size 42 waist before Christmas ( which is a mere six months away! ).

How does this happen? two words - laziness and diet. I sit and watch too much TV. I sit at this silly computer for way too long. And I eat crap. Fast food and donuts. Too many sweets. Not enough of the healthy stuff.

Overweight and overfat do not always mean the same thing. Some people are quite muscular and weigh more than the average for their age and height. However, their body composition, the amount of fat versus lean body mass (muscle, bone, organs and tissue), is within a desirable range. This is true for many athletes. Others weigh an average amount yet carry around too much fat. In our society, however, overweight often implies overfat because excess weight is commonly distributed as excess fat. The addition of exercise to a weight control program helps control both body weight and body fat levels.

A certain amount of body fat is necessary for everyone. Experts say that percent body fat for women should be about 20 percent, 15 percent for men. Women with more than 30 percent fat and men with more than 25 percent fat are considered obese.

There is hope! I can lose this spare tire - this Summer! at a healthy weight loss average of two pounds per week - One could easily lose twenty pounds before Labor Day! Healthy eating and plenty of exercise are the best solutions for quick healthy weight loss.

A few simple changes in your daily regimen can lead to much better health and a whole new outlook on life. Make the easy choice - eat healthy, exercise and lose weight fast!

He restores our strength

"He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside still waters.
He restoreth my soul" from the 23rd Psalm

Laying in the grass just off the green watching the occasional cloud float by I had no idea how lucky I was to be there. The warm Summer morning was a perfect time for golf. The ground seemed just a bit cooler. Laying there while the others lined up their putts was for some reason a memorable moment.

Golf offers us many potentially memorable moments! And - if you're like me - more than a few we'd just as soon forget. What a wonderful and refreshing way to spend a few hours on a Saturday - or any - morning. And, walking the golf course is an excellent addition to your quest for fitness. Daily exercise is the quickest way to lose weight

Save your money. Stop spending a fortune on gasoline just getting to the gym. There are plenty of natural and healthy ways to lose weight. Going to the gym or health club is great. If you don't mind spending $4.00 a gallon to get there! And another $50 a month for your membership. There are less expensive options!
It takes a little longer to achieve conditioning results through walking than through more strenuous activities, but not much. One study showed, for example, that jogging a mile in 8 1/2 minutes bums only 26 more calories than walking a mile in 12 minutes. Conditioning benefits from walking improve dramatically if you increase the pace to faster than 3 miles per hour (20-minute mile).

In another study, participants burned an average of 66 calories per mile walking 3 miles per hour, but 124 calories per mile when they increased the pace to 5 miles per hour. There's no doubt the simple pleasure of walking can lead to a trimmer, healthier body!

How about a water aerobics class at your local pool? Exercise in water places less stress on your joints and can be an excellent overall workout.

Or, you can spend less than a dollar a day and buy your own low-impact exercise equipment. Get some weights, maybe a rowing machine or a BowFlex TreadClimber and burn way more calories than yu would on a conventional treadmill.

Low impact exercise equipment in your extra bedroom helps you get rid of fat and keeps you on the road to getting in shape fast. All from the comfort of home! Put in your favorite tunes or watch a funny video while you workout on your own exercise equipment.

Remember to keep eating healthy- if you want to lose weight. Exercise and healthy eating are the quickest way to lose weight! And keep it off. Maintain a consistent level of activity - sports and exercise. And enjoy a healthy diet.
